    The Art Oblivion | Superimpose

In today’s video and blog post, I am sharing a closer look at The Art Oblivion‘s release of their new glass bead: Superimpose. I also share how I styled TAO Superimpose on a bracelet design.

So…make sure to grab a cup of tea and let’s get started!

    * A special thank you to The Art Oblivion for sending me this bead to review and style with!

    TAO Superimpose

If we live in the here and now, each moment is a surprise, every instant a new wonder. But it often fails to work this way. Onto the present we superimpose our expectations and opinions, based on the past or future.

    – Piero Ferrucci

The Art Oblivion released a new murano glass bead in their collection, today! It is called, Superimpose. It features a beautiful deep blue core with soft blues and hints of green in the centre. It has a pebble-like detail that is repeated throughout the centre of the glass. When I saw these colours, it immediately reminded me of the ocean and inspired a bracelet theme!

To see more details of Superimpose, as well as my bracelet design, I have created a special YouTube video. You can watch it HERE or down below:

I styled Superimpose with TAO In Search, TAO In Flow, TAO Roar, OHM X TAO Unveil and the OHM Mermaid. The bracelet I chose is my sterling silver Plain OHM Bangle.

TAO Superimpose retails for $65 USD.

In celebration of the launch, The Art Oblivion will be offering 20% on all TAO beads (including Superimpose) on August 1st and August 2nd, 2020.

This is a wonderful promotion, especially if you have been tempted by any of TAO beads!

    The Inspiration behind
    TAO Superimpose:

There is an art in laying an image or an idea over another to create something different and beautiful in its new complexity.

There is a way in which one must understand each individual element on its own to be able to keep what is essential from being lost or misunderstood in its new form.

I offer you SUPERIMPOSE as a talisman, reminder and invitation to stay present, to take all of the time necessary to understand individual elements as they are. Once we have gained this mastery, we can SUPERIMPOSE wisely to create something new that retains the essential elements of what has come before, and transform it into something more.

    The Art Oblivion | Roar

Hello everyone! I hope this blog post finds you and your loved ones safe, healthy and well, during this time.

#BlackLivesMatter | To learn more, click HERE.

In today’s blog post, I will be sharing a closer look at The Art Oblivion‘s upcoming release of their first solo glass bead: Roar. This glass bead will be releasing on July 10th, 2020 and is available for pre-order currently. There are only 100 of these beads available.

The Art Oblivion‘s Roar is a beautiful and inspirational bead. It features beautiful silver and different shades of blue that catch the light. I also love the touch of teal blue. It reminds me of The Art Oblivion‘s logo. Roar also has a dainty sparkle to it…a little touch of magic! Also, keeping with the “roar” theme, it has cool tiger-like stripe detailing on it.

I have created a YouTube video to showcase the bead in natural light with movement. You can watch the video HERE or down below:

When designing this bead, The Art Oblivion was inspired by this quote:

The greatest fear in the world is of the opinions of others. And the moment you are unafraid of the crowd you are no longer a sheep, you become a lion. A great roar arises in your heart, the roar of freedom.”

Osho, Courage: The Joy of Living Dangerously

Here is what The Art Oblivion has to say about inspiration and concept behind this bead:

We are being called, do you hear it? We are being called to dive deep into the ocean of ourselves, into the silence and solitude found leagues below. And outside of the influence of others, rise with the swelling tides of our truth with a ROAR to the shore! We are being called to cultivate compassion and care.  And protect all that is vulnerable, loudly and proudly with a ROAR! We are being called to RESIST systems that do not have the best interests of humanity in mind. To ROAR for what is just and right, not for some, but for all.

    The Art Oblivion

I offer ROAR as a talisman, invitation, and reminder to find your voice and use it! To offer you ROAR loudly and with your own fierce flair, these times need you!

    The Art Oblivion

Pairing Roar with The Art Oblivion‘s
In Awe and In Search silver beads:

I am looking forward to styling with Roar! It is so beautiful and a glass bead that I think will compliment many beads in my collection. I think it would make a beautiful centrepiece to a bracelet design, but it would also look beautiful framing a favourite silver bead.

Shown below, I paired TAO Roar in-between In Search (left) and In Awe (right).

I would love to know your thoughts on this beautiful glass bead from The Art Oblivion. How would you style it?

I love the meaning behind this bead. Using our voice to stand up for others, who we are, what we believe in, etc. is so important. Over the past few years, I have had to use my ROAR to stand up for myself and my health…something I had a hard time doing in the past! This bead represents that journey for me and will be a reminder to continue doing so!

What do you think of this bead? What does it represent for you?

The Art Oblivion | In Awe & In Search Beads

I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe, during this outbreak. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

In today’s blog post, I will be sharing a closer look at The Art Oblivion‘s upcoming release of their two new beads: TAO In Awe and TAO In Search.

These two sterling silver beads are releasing for pre-order on May 22nd, 2020 (today). They will officially release and ship out on June 1st, 2020.

The first 25 beads (of each style) that are pre-ordered will be sold at a special price of $66 USD. After that and onwards, both beads will be $98 USD.

To coincide with this blog post, I will also have a new YouTube video! You can watch it HERE or down below:

A special thank you to The Art Oblivion for sending me these 2 beads to review and style with!

    Let’s take a look…

TAO styled with OHM x TAO Unveil Glass Bead

TAO In Awe and TAO In Search are done in the barrel shape, like their first launch of beads (you can find my blog post about the launch beads HERE). I find this barrel shape very comfortable to wear. The larger barrel shape also creates a beautiful and unique bracelet design that really pops out! I also find them very easy to design with.

When I unboxed both, I was blown away by the details. Both beads are beautifully executed with spectacular imagery throughout the silver. I am excited to style both beads with a starry night/galaxy theme.

So far, I have worn my TAO beads on my OHM Twisted Bangle, but I did see my best friend, My Pretty Charmed Life style them on her OHM necklace and it looked beautiful!

For today’s blog, I styled them with the OHM X TAO Unveil glass bead.

    The Stories Behind the Beads

    In Awe

Over the course of our lifetime, we will face many trials and tribulations, many cycles, and seasons within our overall existence.

At this moment in time, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are facing collective challenges AND creativity that is unifying us – and dividing us – in unprecedented ways. This clarity and conflict toggles minute by minute within ourselves. It can be disorienting. Does it feel impossible to know which way to go?

When a dancer is spinning quickly, they are taught to “spot” one point ahead by keeping it in focus, to avoid getting dizzy and spinning out of control. Let us “spot” on the microcosm of simple everyday miracles, let us  focus on knowing that every feeling is a season, let us keep in mind that every experience is an opportunity to deepen the intimacy and knowing of ourselves – and consequently others.

“In Awe” is an invitation, reminder, and talisman to be right here, right now; to be with what is uncomfortable as much as with what brings us joy, so we may know ourselves better and develop increased resilience. When things get overwhelming, look up to the sky at the beauty and miracle of light and our ability to perceive it. Let us feel into our connection with the Universe, as all organic matter containing carbon was produced originally in stars. “We are stardust, we are golden” and we are never alone.

We can combine “In Awe” with “In Search” to keep our feet on the ground while reaching for the stars. To quote Ruth Gordon in Harold and Maude “the earth is my body, my head is in the stars.”

    In Search

Over the course of our lifetime, we face many trials and tribulations, many cycles, and seasons within our overall existence.

Within tragedy there is opportunity for deep insight not otherwise available to us. It takes deep insight to calibrate our inner compass in order that we may navigate our own way with personal integrity, especially when the way is through uncharted territory. No one can do this for us, and it is essential work if we wish to avoid getting lost in the chaos.

“In Search” is an invitation, reminder, and talisman to be right here, right now; to be with what is uncomfortable as much as with what brings us joy, so we may grow to know ourselves better and develop increased resilience. When things become overwhelming, it is time to breathe in deep, check in with our inner compass and then – only then – set our feet firmly on terra firma, discern our path, and move.

Let us access our connection with the Earth and its diverse topography. Let us absorb the lessons offered by the planet that sustains our existence and that we will go back to once we pass from this world.

We can combine “In Awe” with “In Search” to keep our feet on the ground while reaching for the stars. To quote Ruth Gordon in Harold and Maude “the earth is my body, my head is in the stars.”

    – The Art Oblivion

I love the amount of thought and imagery that goes into The Art Oblivion‘s bead designs. They tell a story with all the different details and they feel very special to wear.

I was trying to figure out if I had a top favourite, from the two…but after a few days of wearing and styling with them, I still love both of them equally. They pair perfectly together and not do they compliment each other visually, but their bead stories do too!

And that is it for today’s blog post! Stay tuned for my new Youtube video that will show an even more detailed look at these two new beads! I would love to know your thoughts on these beads. Do you have a favourite, from the two? And how would you style these beads?

The Story & Inspiration Behind my Bead Design with OHM Beads | Don’t Give Up

Happy Monday! I hope this blog posts finds you and your loved ones safe, healthy and doing well.

This past Saturday, I premiered a special video on Youtube. It is part two of my “Exciting Announcement” video. If you remember from my previous blog post, I shared that I will be OHM Beads June 2020 OHMistry Project. This means I got to design my own bead with OHM Beads! It is such a surreal, crazy dream come true.

In my new video, I share a detailed look at my bead, as well as the story and inspirations behind it. This is probably my most personal (and slightly vulnerable) video yet. You can watch it HERE or down below:

Thank you to this incredible community and to OHM Beads for making this dream come true. Biggest virtual hugs!

    OHM Don’t Give Up

My OHMistry Project bead is called, DON’T GIVE UP. It is a silver oxidized bead and will be releasing on June 19th, 2020 at 10:00 AM Pacific time zone.
The limited-edition release of DON’T GIVE UP is part of Project OHMistry and is limited to 111 signed and serialized pieces. A certificate of authenticity is included inside a limited edition box (I actually got to illustrate the box art myself).

As mentioned in my video, this bead reflects a journey. It is a mountain that has a dark side and a light side to it. Here is the story behind the bead:

DON’T GIVE UP, you tell yourself. You feel it in your heart and soul. You are meant to succeed.

It starts with those first few steps. But with all journeys, it is a struggle of faith and self-assurance. Fear finds its way to creep in. It twists your path, voices harsh judgment, creates doubt and pain. It tries to seize the victory that awaits you.

At your darkest moment, when all feels lost, this bead reminds you to keep going. Push upwards, onwards! Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.

Having faith will guide your journey, through the darkness. The clouds will open, the path will brighten and the further you go, the clearer your path becomes. You will find unexpected help. You will experience achievements, big and small. Before you know it, you will arrive at the end and the start of a new beginning.

You will be victorious. Every fear, doubt, and painful memory will be conquered.

What is your “Don’t Give Up” journey?

Leading up to June 19th, I will continue to share the journey of designing this bead with OHM Beads! Stay tuned for official OHM Beads photos, the process of seeing my bead come to life (from wax to silver) and how I’ve been styling my bead.

Side note: Can you spot my artist signature, on this bead? I love that OHM Beads added this detail to the bead. You can also find it on the box art:

Anyway, that is it for today’s blog post! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and talk to you soon! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH AGAIN! xo

Kendra Scott | Color Bar Experience | Customize Your Jewellery

Happy Tuesday! I hope you and your loves ones are healthy, safe and doing well. I also hope this blog post adds some fun into your day!

Near the end of February 2020, I went to visit my bestie, Nichol (@MyPrettyCharmedLife) in New Mexico. We had an amazing time together! AND…we did a ton of shopping! One of the stores we went to was Kendra Scott. We booked an appointment to try out their Color Bar by Kendra Scott experience. Although, I owned a bracelet from Kendra Scott already, I had never been into a store! I was looking forward to going inside and customizing jewellery with Nichol, as well as her sister and Presley.

On March 1st, Nichol, Nichol’s sister, little Presley and I drove over to the local Kendra Scott store. We were greeted by two associates. They told us they were running a bit behind schedule. We were offered champagne, (orange juice for Presley), and the opportunity to browse the store. None of us had minded this, as we had been curious to see what jewellery items were available!

    Browsing around at Kendra Scott

The retail space was welcoming with a bright, open space. There were modern structures, furniture and styling details. My own home decor is mainly white, gold with light wood notes…so it was fun to see this colour theme at Kendra Scott! This colour theme also made the jewellery pieces stand out beautifully, especially the more colourful and vibrant gemstone pieces.

The jewellery was beautifully showcased on a variety of displays. These displays also followed the gold and white colour theme. The jewellery was also organized by collection and theme.

Unlike some jewellery stores, the displays allowed the customer to pickup, touch and even try on the jewellery. This added to the welcoming feel! Even though the associates had been busy, they still asked us if we had any questions or required assistance.

Just as we were nearing the end of our browsing, we were told they were ready to start our Color Bar appointment. They led us to the middle of the store with a huge display that read: Customize Color Bar by Kendra Scott.

What is the Kendra Scott Color Bar?

The Color Bar by Kendra Scott is an opportunity to sip champagne and nibble on sweet treats while enjoying a private styling consultation. After the consultation, you have the unique experience of customizing your chosen Kendra Scott pieces. Customization consists of metal colour (vintage gold, vintage silver, gold, silver, rose gold), as well as gemstones (they have a huge selection).

The Color Bar by Kendra Scott began in 2009. Here is what Kendra Scott wrote (on their website) about how it works:

From fan favorites to limited edition stones to exclusive silhouettes, the Color Bar has it all – and it’s easy as 1, 2, 3! Just choose your style, choose your metal, and then choose your stones. The best part is that everything’s hand set in minutes, which means no extra wait whether you’re shopping in-store or online. Sound like fun? We definitely think so too.

    – Kendra Scott

We all gathered around the Color Bar with the Color Bar Stylist. She showed us a book with the customizable jewellery items available. In the back of the book, it also showcased all the different gemstones available. The book also listed price points, including the pricing of gemstones.

Below, is a video of us looking through the book, with the stylist, as well as a quick look at the Color Bar area.

After our consultation, we decided to look at the selection of gemstones first, to give us some ideas on what jewellery pieces to add them to! All the gemstones were placed in trays and organized by gemstone type.

We all picked out our favourite colours and debated what colour theme to use! Nichol settled on blue, but was torn between two colours.

I selected a variety of neutral gemstone colours, but I also chose some more darker gemstones too. I had found a dainty chain bracelet in a vintage gold colour. It was beautiful! I thought either of these colour themes would pair beautifully with it.

After some debate, I ultimately settled on the darker stones. They popped out against the gold beautifully!

After designing the bracelet with my chosen gemstones, I also designed with two more jewellery pieces: a ring and a necklace. It is always nice to have a jewellery set! Sadly, after realizing the jewellery items were not silver (underneath the gold plating), I decided not to go with the necklace. I have sensitive skin and often can get rashes, especially on my neck.

I decided that if the bracelet and ring do not cause a reaction, I would go back for the necklace, in the future.

After I had picked out my gemstones, the Color Bar stylist set them for me! They looked so beautiful! Here is what I picked out:

    Dedra Bracelet

The dainty chain bracelet I chose was the Dedra Bracelet. It is 14K gold plated over brass, with cubic zirconia accents. I customized it with two gemstones: Platinum Drusy and Abalone Shell.

Drusy is the natural crystallization on a rock surface. All of our Drusy is genuine and has a rich sparkling appearance. Our range of Drusy colors are achieved by a custom plating process that coats the stone’s surface.

    – Kendra Scott

Abalone Shell is the artful inner shell of a mollusk, whose hard, rock-like outer shell disguises the moody natural mix of blue and green underneath. Never dyed or enhanced in any way, Abalone Shell is one of nature’s most dazzling materials.

    – Kendra Scott

    Elyse Ring

I also chose the Elyse ring in 14K gold plating. It features an oval shape and an open design. The Elyse ring is a statement ring, but one I felt would compliment the dainty chain of my Dedra bracelet! I had looked at other statement rings and they felt too bold to pair with the bracelet.

It wasn’t long before Nichol, Nichol’s sister and little Presley also settled on their chosen jewellery pieces. Nichol and her sister also chose to create a jewellery set. Presley customized a beautiful necklace.

To see what Nichol picked out (and a closer look at my Kendra Scott pieces), feel free to watch our jewellery shopping haul video HERE or down below:

After our jewellery pieces were set, they were packaged up in vibrant yellow packaging. The presentation and packaging was beautiful! Each jewellery item was put inside a separate fabric bag. A branded insert was also tucked inside. The fabric bags were placed into a beautiful Kendra Scott themed box, a bow was added and box was placed into a Kendra Scott bag.

Overall, we all had a wonderful afternoon together! All 4 of us (plus stuffed animal, Scamp) would recommend the Color Bar by Kendra Scott experience!

Do you own any jewellery pieces from Kendra Scott?

The Art Oblivion’s First Bead Collection + OHM Exclusives

In today’s blog post, I will be sharing a closer look at five beads that are exclusive to The Art Oblivion. Two of the beads are from The Art Oblivion’s first solo bead collection. The other three beads are from OHM Beads, made exclusively for The Art Oblivion.

A special thank you to The Art Oblivion for sending me all 5 beads to review and style with!

If you find a bead (or two) that you love and would like to order, feel free to use my code: FASHIONSHIPPING at The Art Oblivion checkout to receive free shipping off your order!

To coincide with this blog post, I have also created a new YouTube video. You can watch that video, HERE or down below:

The Launch of The Art Oblivion’s First Bead Collection

The Art Oblivion (TAO) has officially launched their first solo collection of beads. I could not be more excited for them! There are two sterling silver beads that recently launched by TAO, on separate dates. Both beads are priced at $98 US. They are: In Flow and In Process.

    In Flow

Our nervous systems are constantly being influenced by the waves around us. Mechanical and electromagnetic waves are ceaselessly present. Between the Ocean wave cut-outs on this bead are ACTUAL soundwave affirmations sent from my voice to your heart as an offering to soothe your personal daily vibration and keep you “In Flow.” They listed here as invitations.

    The Art Oblivion

The TAO In Flow bead officially released on February 22nd, 2020. The first batch was sold at a special price of $66.00 US for early adopters.

Here is the meaning behind the bead:

” Our bodies are deep oceans, carrying abundant life and stories that coexist and make us what we are.

When we move with the flow of life within us, and use that life force to engage with the world around us, we become part of all Life, we are “In Flow”.

This is not a passive process. There are many distractions that pull us out of flow when we are not mindful. I offer The Art Oblivion’s first silver bead, our first solo bead, as a talisman and physical reminder to remain “In Flow”

I invite you to be “right here, right now.”

I invite you into the process of “letting go, letting in.”

I invite you to experience “presence and flow.”

    – The Art Oblivion

    In Process

The TAO In Process bead officially released on February 29th, 2020. The 29th of February was the leap year and that means that no other beads will be released on that day for another 7 years! Pretty darn cool!

The first batch of this bead were also sold at a special price of $66.00 US for early adopters.

Here is the meaning behind the bead:

    “We are all “In Process”.

    We are all “Becoming”.

We are all breaking through something that contains us. Even if the something that contains us is a nurturing womb or transformative chrysalis, the time always comes for us to emerge and be born anew with an increased wisdom gained through experience.

The second bead in The Art Oblivion first collection, “In Process” invites us to understand that everything is on its way to somewhere, and is perpetually  “In Process.” What does it feel like to view yourself and others through this lens? We are all struggling with something. We have all overcome great obstacles.

I offer this bead to serve as a physical reminder and talisman to foster compassion for ourselves and others, and to be present and curious about life’s process rather than being attached to a destination. I offer this bead in support for each one of us to break out of the shell that confines us, bravely stepping into the unknown, trusting ourselves to grow from whatever is on the other side.”

    – The Art Oblivion

The Art Oblivion + OHM Beads

    Glass Beads

From left: Humor, Resist and Unveil

    Humor $55 US

I offer HUMOR as a visual reminder and talisman to support us in letting go of taking ourselves too seriously. The sparkles in that glass are there to shine a light on our place in the divine landscape, we are all shining stardust, connected and perfectly imperfect. We are only on this planet for a limited time. When we depart, may we all be able to say we laughed all of our laughter while we still could.

    The Art Oblivion + OHM

    Inspiration behind the bead:

When was the last time you had a good belly laugh? The kind that makes your abdominal muscles work and takes your breath away? Maybe even eliciting an uncontrollable snort?

Consider me a cosmic doctor writing you a prescription to cure what ails you, and that prescription is HUMOR!

You may not be able to remember the last time you had that belly laugh, but I bet you can remember that last time you took yourself too seriously. It might be happening right now. There is a tension within each of us to do things WELL, to do things right, to be the best, to know better. We are all children learning throughout the course of a lifetime, it never stops, and if we can view our own oopsies, mistakes, fails, falls, and errors with curiosity rather than judgment, we open ourselves to the HUMOR of life’s comedy and find laughter as the medicine we all so desperately need.

    Resist $65 US

I offer you RESIST, as a visual reminder and talisman to support you as you move through your day; There are key moments in life where it is important not to be polite, not to go with the flow, to USE your voice, to stand your ground, and RESIST. Complacency is collusion, now is your time to be the change you want to see in this world.

    The Art Oblivion + OHM

    Inspiration behind the bead:

In Star Trek, there is a society called The Borg who state “resistance is futile” as they assimilate whole cultures of people into their collective. The Federation in this series not only resists, but prevails, with increased strength and resolve from the other side.

We are at an important time in humanity. Let us double down on our own resistance, less we become unconsciously assimilated into a dominating culture that would erase our communities, our families, and our individual rich uniqueness.

Often it is not easy, we must actively work to deprogram aspects of ourselves that have become familiar and comfortable. There is often loss in that. However, significant rewards for doing this work are the unfathomable and unshakable knowing of our most pure and true selves.

    Unveil $65 US

I offer UNVEIL as a visual reminder and talisman to support us in appreciating the bravery we have already shown through offering our unique self-expression, and as an invitation to reveal other essential aspects of our beings when we are ready. There is so much to learn about ourselves, and the world around us, when we UNVEIL ourselves. Life changes in unexpected and furthering ways the more we show ourselves in our unveiled naked power and vulnerability. Prepare to be surprised!

    The Art Oblivion + OHM

    Inspiration behind the bead:

We are all so very brave.

Choosing to say yes to life is an incredible act of bravery, and choosing to put ourselves out there in our unique self-expression is an additional layer of courage.

Every day we get to choose what we reveal, and stepping into the dance where we shed layer after layer of our veils is the deliciously tantalizing spice of life!
